San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez approved our request to do a Tree Planting Project in the City of San Juan. The City government will let us use a 3 hectare property along Santolan Avenue. She wants flowering trees to be planted instead of fruit bearing trees.
Now to find a source for the flowering tree seedlings.
Stay tuned, we are going places
Hoooray!!! I'm using my thumbs to type articles for this blog - on my mobile phone of course. Isn't technology great!

Meeting with San Juan City Mayor
I will be meeting with the City Mayor of San Juan, Mayor Guia Gomez to discuss the projects of my Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of san Juan.
Part of the agenda is the Plant Trees Project, where the city government of San Juan will identify an area where we can plant trees. Based on initial talks, there is a three (3) hectare property that belongs to the city government where the Mayor would like to have trees planted. This is a good size for a first project.
Should this property be assigned to the Rotary Club of San Juan's Tree Planting Project, we now have to secure the seedlings from the supplier.
I will promote the planting of mango sedlings for this project.
Fruit bearing trees give fruit and serve its purpose in the environment by sucking up carbon dioxide and giving off oxygen.
Till the next update...

FaceBook Cause, Plant Trees Now With 170 Members
Members in my FaceBook cause, Plant Trees has swelled to more than 170 members.
The next step is to organize a tree planting activity in cooporation with the Rotary Club of San Juan who will provide the seedlings, and the Mayor of San Juan City who will identify the location where we can plant trees.
Members of the cause will be invited to join the tree planting activity where they will actually plant a tree and make a stand to fight global warming.
Stay tuned for further developments.

FaceBook Cause Now Has 149 Members
As I write this, the cause that I started in FaceBook a week ago, Plant Trees Fight Global Warming now has 149 members - and it continues to grow everyday.
It is very encouraging because friends are inviting friends to join the cause.
I've found a way to put a Social Networking site like FaceBook to good use.
Isn't technology great!

Planting Trees, My Personal Advocacy
Last Saturday, I started a cause in FaceBook entitled, Plant Trees.
After 5 days, the cause now has 65 members and continues to grow everyday.
Friends who invite their friends to join the cause is very encouraging.
The cause is currently in recruitment mode - getting the first 100 members.
Once this is accomplished, we shall organize a Tree Planting Activity where each member contributes by actually planting a tree. Tree seedlings will be provided by Rotary Clubs in District 3800, while the Department of Environment and Natural Resources will identify the place where we can plant the trees.
The Philippines' neighbor, Indonesia, plants 200 million trees every year.
The Philippines should emulate Indonesia and do the same, plant several million trees every year.
This way we make a difference and reverse the effects of Global Warming.
Join us as we plant trees for our future.

Plant Trees, Fight Global Warming
Now you complain about the HEAT.
Next you will say there's TOO MUCH RAIN.
PLANT TREES and fight Global Warming.
NOW please, before it's too late.
All the other movements such as cutting back on the use of electricity, using the car less, and recycling, are all meant to minimize our carbon footprint.
Trees actually suck-up carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.
The earth needs more oxygen to reverse 'greenhouse' gasses, the major cause of Global Warming.
Let us plant trees for our children's future.
